VOIP services may also provide aditional features like caller id, call waiting and 911.

Some operators offer more flexibility. You can phone through the PC or through traditional lines. One of them is Net2Phone.

If you are thinking of discarding your traditional phone line for just the VOIP alone, think twice about it.

One problem with VOIP is that if the broadband service is down, you can't make phone calls. Your VOIP phone is dependant on the broadband service.

Also, If there is a power outage or if your computer is down, you can't make phone calls through VOIP either.
