I am most impressed with the latest offerings of night vision devices. This technology has many applications from military, survellience and commercial applications such as hiking, camping and hunting. I am sure you have seen night vision images on Television news. The typical night vision image is green in colour. How does it work? Night vision devices are able to capture the tiniest amount of visible light as well as the near infrared light of the electromagnet spectrum which is not visible to the naked eye. This is a simple explanation how the night vision device works. An image intensifier tube is found inside the NVD which collect and amplify both infrared and visible light. Light goes through the objective lens and strikes the photocathode which then converts the light photons into electrons. The electrons are accelerated in an electrostatic field and hit the phosphor screen and produces the green image you see.
You'll be astonished by the quality of these NVD. The pictures produced are very sharp and bright. You can literally turn night into day. Imagine, if you are exploring a cave with these NVD , there is no longer a need to carry a flashlight. You can now hike day or night, no longer constrain by time. Camping is also so much more fun now at night. You can now set up or dismantle your camp even in the dark or in the night is now a breeze as you can see everything clearly These devices are especially helpful if you want to make a shortcut through the dense forrest. With the NVD , you can see your way clearly and make your way about and not grope around and stumbled and fall in the dark like the blind man.
These devices are especially helpful to nocturnal animal collectors, watchers or hunters. You can spot these animals from afar without disturbing them. These devices have a vision range of nearly 200 meters. NVD are now into their fourth generation and are likely to progress even further.
